Subject: Being trained for the second time

Hello Everyone!

This week was super cool for me!! I was able to start my second training!! My new companion's name is Elder Turley. He is all the way from Hurricane Utah!! He was called as a Malay Missionary so it's been super fun to learn the language with him and improve ourselves.

It's super interesting training again. I think training is a little bit like having kids. The first one I was a little stressed and worried, the second one I was pretty prepared for, but I am already learning so much not only from him but just the experience in general. The coolest thing that I think I have experienced this far is how much I have grown!  It's cool to see how much raw energy that he has and how he is scattered to get it all put together. It reminded me of how I was when I came into the mission. It's also super interesting how much we naturally forget of the experiences and challenges that we have had. For example, when my companion doesn't understand or is trying to figure something out, it throws me back to when I had those same questions. My natural reaction to his questions and curiosities is, "why does he not understand." Then the spirit always hits me with a memory of when I went through the same thing. Then the sweet love of the spirit reminds me. "Just be there for him, you've been through this before."

Outside of that, we had a really good week and I am finding out more and more to just be myself and say just be super open about things. With that I found so much more happiness and even success in the work. As we go from home to home, or even person to person, we tell them why they are here, and then we give them the open choice to accept the message. Then we continue to move forward. I've loved it. It sounds like such a simple concept. Something a new missionary should learn. Guess I'm a lot greener than I thought!

We were also able to teach Jordan and Henry this week. But the biggest miracle was with this new family that we found last week. Their names are Yang and Zheng. It's a husband and wife that we had only seen twice. I called Yang and if he was okay with us coming over again. He agreed, and as the appointment came up, I wasn't looking forward to it. I was kind of worried because my companion wouldn't understand as well, and I wasn't sure if they were really interested, or if they just liked having us over. But the second we got to their home I was very much corrected. They told us they have been reading the pamphlet and that they wanted to understand more about the Book of Mormon. We ended up leaving them with a reading assignment and a warm spirit. It really humbled me as a missionary. I need to have a lot more faith in the miracles the Lord provides.

This week, the way that I saw God's hand in my life was actually looking. As I was out and about working with my companion, with the people we teach, I think to my self, "Where is God's hand in all of this" and then I realize that His hand is there a lot more than we think. We just don't notice it. I love this gospel and I know it's true. I have fallen in love once again with the Book of Mormon that I know is words from God that will help us in our life. I challenge you to look at 2 Nephi 32, and see how God's hand can be, or already is, in your life.

I love you all so much,
Elder Carter
