Subject: Boat Tour and Kabun
Hello friends and family!!
This week was honestly nothing that I expected!! It started off with me being able to take the Elders out to their first fun P-Day to a little boat tour of the city of Kuching!
Then I was able to go on exchanges with the 2 Zone Leaders this week while some things were being taken care of! One of the funniest things that came out of the trip is we got to plant a kabun which means garden in Malay. Malaysia is so crazy cause you can plant plants almost anywhere. Like literally you just throw a seed in the ground. So we planted a coconut tree and some banana trees! It was honestly so cool, and probably something I will never do in the states.
But it was so fun!
But the coolest and most rewarding part of the week was Josh. I love Josh! He, and his story, literally make me so happy. Josh is someone that ran into missionaries a couple of times and just had the faith to say a prayer. Since then he has just dived in. He says that "God told him the church was true." So now he is just learning more and more. It's so awesome! He is anxiously improving and always wanting to know more.
With all of those things this week, and some of the other crazy things that happened, I just got to take a step back and look at the world. I got to watch all the people and see many different backgrounds and cultures. As I did, I kept noticing and feeling that all of us are very similar. We all have struggles but we all have things that just make us so, so happy. All of us need each other. All of us need a friend. Who can you be a friend to this week? I love you all so much and I know the gospel is so true. It brings a joy that is indescribably.
Love,
Elder Carter
