新年快乐!
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!! I hope you were all able to start off a great year of the mouse! :)
I just want to say that I absolutely love Singapore! It is one of the coolest places in the whole entire world. The buildings, the people, the food, it is all so diverse and so special. I moved in over a week ago, but I am really getting settled in now! I have started to get the hang of how things work around here and what I can do to continue being a great missionary. Here is a little bit of Singapore for you.
I am now currently companions with Elder Delis! He is also from Utah! I think I may have mentioned this last time, but we actually sat on the plane with each other on the way here! Now, here we are on the descent of our mission. It has been really cool to be with him and just act more like best friends instead of companions. Sometimes we have to much fun! But it is sooo good!
This last week, there was a lot of Zone Conferences and meetings that we had to attend, but I learned so much from going to them! One of the biggest things I learned is that we should stop a temptation not stop a sin. It kind of made me think of like a garden. We all have good thoughts and bad thoughts. But it's what you do with them. If you have a lot of flowers in your garden but you let the weeds creep in, then your flowers will die and the weeds will take over. But if you pull the weeds as you see them, or if you start to get rid of the tempting thought, then the weeds will not grow. I think the coolest realization for me is that's really when the Atonement of Jesus Christ comes in. For example, if I am with friends and one of them buys a cookie, I also want to buy a cookie, but I know I don't need it. It is through prayer and the Atoning power that we overcome that evil desire of "just eating one last more."
My last thought is really just how powerful testimony is. I am now in the Filipino ward in Singapore, and as we teach we always have members present. And sometimes we will teach a certain lesson and then the members just start talking about something completely different. At first it really made me nervous and I felt like I lost control of the situation. But these sweet Filipinos bear just the strongest testimony and the spirit is so strong. My message to you all today is never be afraid of just sharing what you have gone through and what you know and feel. Seriously it's one of the most powerful things ever!
Love you all so much!
