Subject: Big lights in the big city
Hello friends and family!!
For those of you who don't know, I have moved to KL [Kuala Lumpur]. Which is just gorgeous. If you don't know much about KL it is one of the business capitals in Malaysia and even in south east asia. It has so many kinds of people. So many languages, and it fills me with so much joy just being here.
I don't want to write out a story book, but I do want to highlight a blessing from this week with you. I will post a picture below so you can have a visual:
These are two or 3 families I was able to meet this week. I will keep most of their information private, but I will say that they have moved to Malaysia because they were facing persecution where they were from for being Christians. As I was able to sit down with these families and hearing there stories, I was almost brought to tears. I was sitting in the midst of 2 fathers that left great careers, nice homes, and a decent life style. All so that their family could be protected and that they could continue practicing Christianity. When I heard this story, my heart was full. As a missionary, I give up 2 years to really help people and to even help myself be more converted. From time to time I miss my family, or working, or being with friends. But I am only doing it for 2 years. These 2 men gave up their whole life. It really made me ponder these questions, and I invite you to ponder them too.
Do I really believe in a God, and believe His son Jesus Christ?
What am I willing to give up to continue to follow Them?
As I have pondered these questions, I then realized I can be a little better, and do a little better.
I do know without a shadow of a doubt that God is real. We really do have a Father in Heaven who cares and loves for us. I know with that same surety that the Book of Mormon is true. It is the most motivating book in the world.
