HELLO EVERYONE!!
I hope that everyone had the best week this week! I have heard back in Utah the sun is going down early and the temperatures are dropping. For us here in Malaysia it is raining a little bit more but we are still in the 80-90s with some high humidity!
I have a miracle story that I want to share with everyone!! So my companion and I have decided to narrow our vision and sharpen our focus on how we do missionary work. We have recently decided we want to really put a big focus on finding families. What that means is we will door knock, or find at malls, or anywhere else and if we see a family we MUST talk to them. And so that is what we did all week. Then the miracle happened.
It's actually really funny how this meet up began. So a couple of weeks ago my companion and I were both pinned up against a wall with like 10 evil dogs. It's okay, we are good and that is a story for another day. But because of that incident, we hate dogs. Absolutely hate em. Ok, that's not true. We are just really scared of them. So this week we were walking down a street and we saw dogs. My companion kind of sighed in his scardy cat voice and I said no worries we will just go down this street. So we did. Then we saw an Indian father pull up that just knew a little bit of English so we started talking to him! We were kind of questioning ourselves if we should accept his invitation to go into his home. He didn't speak much English and we don't speak much Tamil. But he invited us in and his 2 kids and wife had perfect English. And the wife had been praying for some kind of help for her husband to overcome some trials. It was so tender for us as missionaries and we really were able to see that God guides us!!
Then this week we had District Conference!!
That meant I was able to see everyone from all the areas that I have served in. It was amazing to catch up with some old friends and continue to see how they have grown and changed!
At the district Conference our mission president spoke a lot. And my favorite thing he mentioned is we can't change people. Only God can do that. All we can do to help others is love them, and as the time is right connect them to God. That just rung so true to me. All we can do is encourage prayer and reading the scriptures. The rest is up to them.
Friends and family I love you all so much!
Love,
Elder Carter
