Hello Everyone,
This week I was able to spend the first part of my week in Singapore and it was actually a really good week. We were able to learn a lot of things and grow as a mission as well as a group. I'll talk about that a little bit more in a second but here is a photo from Zone Conference.
This is everyone that serves in East Malaysia right now which is on the Island of Borneo. That includes the 2 states of Sabah and Sarawak. I am currently in Sarawak Kuching. :)
Something that really shocked me is how many of the missionaries will be leaving here in the next couple of months, and how many new missionaries will be coming in. It's kind of scary in a way. We found out that there are 30 plus missionaries leaving in the next couple of transfers and most of them are in some kind of leadership position, so everything is about to change. This is all on top of a new Mission President coming in. But to more of my surprise, we still have a lot of young missionaries. Here is a photo of all the missionaries just from east Malaysia that are less than a year in the field:
It was kind of inspiring to see and discuss with each other what our plan was to grow the mission. We all are so excited to do great things and to help get the Singapore mission closer and closer to a temple! So much is about to change and it's all going to be for the better.
But besides that, I learned something really important for not only missionary work, but from life.
Missionary work is Simple. Success is simple. Life, if you want it to be, is simple.
While we were at Zone Conference, we had a big conversation about if you want to help people be baptized then you need to talk to a lot of people. If you want to help families come unto the gospel you need to just talk to families. The same goes with Chinese. If you want to learn Chinese, put in the time. Read the scriptures in your mission language. Make good use of study time. Then, as I was able to talk to my mission president about success and going into college, it was the same principle. If you want to be successful, do what others aren't willing to do.
But the thing that I like in all of this is that God is the paymaster. As we rely on Him and do the simple things, He will bless us. I know that that is true.
The mission is just so crazy. We are on planes everywhere. We talk to some of the best people, and hear some of the most amazing stories. I love the work.
I really want to hear from all of you! Send me how you are doing!
I love you all!!
Love,
Elder Carter
