Subject: Down to Kuching
Good Morning Everyone!
That's right! I have moved to Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia! [ Google Map of Kuching ] I am now in East Malaysia! And, contrary to belief, it is not all jungle houses. It's actually really nice! I have been assigned as the District Leader and I am companions with a good friend named Elder Tauteoli! It has been an amazing start!
It's been amazing in Kuching because the District here is so close to having a stake and all of the members are so excited to do missionary work and the work is progressing so fast here.
Not only the members, but the people in Kuching are just so so humble. We just talk to so many people that have the most amazing stories.
Something that I have learned while I have been here is that everyone has some kind of need. Everyone has something that they are looking for and something that they need help with. Something that my companion and I have really been working on is loving and listening to these people talk. Just really give them our full attention, and it's amazing as you train and practice your listening skills the things that the spirit guides you to know.
For example, we were teaching a couple and talking about them in their lives. They are this young, very well put together couple, and something prompted me to ask if everything was really going well in their lives and then they just opened up about a really hard challenge they were going through. It was amazing as we were able to talk to them and get to know their story.
I know that the Gospel can bless and Help everyone. I know that all of us in a way have a need. I know that God can fill the need.
Happy Mother's day to all those amazing mothers and soon-to-be mothers. Family is the most amazing thing in the world. I know I absolutely love mine.
