Hello Everyone.

Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur, ( with the fur ) the whole mission field is looking at him.

I know I changed the lyrics, but Elder Lowe is my new companion and he is just the absolute best. I'm not sure how many of you took the time to put my last email into google translate, Hehe, but I have the opportunity to train right now and I LOVE IT. I found out just last week that I will be training Elder Lowe. The second that he got off the plane, we have been great friends and I have been able to do a lot with him!

He is also from Utah and we share a lot of the same thoughts and motivations which has been really cool. He's a talker just like I am and we find ourselves pondering life and the gospel with each other quite often.

This week, we were able to see a lot of really cool things happen.

Elder Lowe and I were able to attack Penang this week, and it was an incredible experience. We were able to go out finding and talk to many many people who had all kinds of stories.

We were also able to meet with a lot of members and help them grow their testimonies. It was so special as we were visiting with them and to feel their spirits. They truly are the Malaysia Pioneers.

But I want to focus on a story of a man that we are teaching. I won't mention his name or much about him for the privacy purpose of the email, but we had an experience with him that really struck me. For the purpose of this story, we will call him Braydon.

We invited Braydon to come over to a Family Home Evening activity. These activities happen fairly often and are always a really good time and we all get to mingle together and share our testimonies and thoughts about the gospel. We always try to invite the people that we are teaching to come so not only can that get to know some of the members of our church but is always a spiritual experience too.

We had invited Braydon to come to the activity, and he was so excited about it. Not only did he feel so flattered for being invited but was excited to meet some new friends. To the point where he went out and got some treats to share. We were filled for excitement for him as the day went on. Then about an 30 minutes before the Family Home Evening started my companion suggested we gave him a call and made sure everything was good and that he was on his way. During the call, we heard him say " I am on my way, I will be there soon" then he hung up. A couple of seconds later, he responded saying, "The traffic is too busy. There is no way I can park. I think I need to just go back home." My companion I were confused and called him again to see what was going on. We asked him where he was, and what had happened. He expressed that he was very close. But the traffic was just too hard and that he would have no where to park. So we ran out side of the apartment complex and stood in a parking spot for him and said not to worry. To make a long story short, we kept talking back and forth, and Braydon kept saying, "I think I'm just going to go home." But after talking with him on the phone for a little bit, we found out he was just around the corner, and we were able to encourage him. Then the night went amazing and he made good friends.

As this happened, I took a step back and thought about us in life. Especially with God as our Heavenly father. I had wondered and thought to myself, "We are all like Braydon sometimes". I think a lot of us will only see the stress or the situation in front of us and forget that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't that far away. For Braydon, he was right next door, just right around the corner from making it, and he wanted to give up and drive all the way back home. How many of us run into the same situation?

It helped me realize that God is the guide in our life. He helps us grow and knows where our promised land is. He loves us and cares about us. And, in reality, he know's the traffic we face and how stressful it can be. But how often will we give up on Him? Although He is so close, he is reaching out His hand. All we need to do is reach out ours.

I have a strong testimony that I know life can been so hard sometimes. But, a lot of the time, I think we are a lot closer to happiness than we think. So as we are all in Braydon situations, I want to invite all of you to look past the traffic, and to find the parking spot of joy.

I love all of you so much! I am praying and thinking about you!

Love,
Elder Carter
