PDay - 9 Jul 2018

Hello everyone!!

Translation: Hello, I am Elder Carter. I am a missionary from the Church of Jesus Christ of Later day Saints. I know that as you read the Book of Mormon with me, you will feel Gods spirit. You will know what work you need to do.

I hope all of you are doing so well!! I also hope you all had a great 4th of July!! Ours was pretty awesome! We were able to watch fireworks out of our buildings! Including the stadium of fire. Even though I missed all you I know I’m in the right place and doing the right things! I love this great work.

Pictures from the 4th:

Well let’s get on to what happened this week :) so just like every week, a whole lot of Chinese, and a whole lot of scripture study and I love it!! So like I have said in past emails, we teach someone the gospel in Chinese everyday. (The church doesn’t use the word investigator anymore. ) it was great, we taught her all about Joseph Smith, using the atonement to improve her life, and finally on the last day we had her, we invited her to follow Jesus Christ example and to be baptized. SHE SAID YES:) Here’s a picture of us and her.

It was so exciting to in Chinese completely teach lessons and feel the spirit so strong. I was the one who invited her to baptism and the spirit that was in the room was indescribable. It was so strong, and so powerful.

BUT WAIT THERES MORE.

So most days we have 2 classes a day, one where we really learn and practice Chinese, the other one is when we do our lessons and do “ mastery checks” to make sure we are on course. We on Friday we knew we didn’t have a lesson so we weren’t really sure what was going to happen. We had asked our main teaching in a tutoring session if she worked today, and she replied yes I work tonight. Which was weird because she normally teaches the first session. So we figured it was just going to be more mastery checks, or our secondary teacher was going to step up and do a lesson. BUT NO! The person that we had taught for almost a week walks in, and says hello I’m your other teacher! WHATTTT?! MTC that was a good one. But no really how smart was that. Now she has been teaching us most days and helping us to use the grammar better and improve our lessons. I have 100% faith that the MTC is the best language training center in the world, not just because of the methods, but because they teach you to learn by the spirit, making it so my companion and I can learn almost 35 words a day, and just throw it in to our every day talks. Really as I focus on my purpose and study hard I learn so so much.

Now on the the question I know you’ve all been waiting for!
How’s everyone’s Book of Mormon challenge going? If you’re keeping up with the goal you should be around page 63. If you aren’t that’s ok, you can do it. I promise as you do you will feel the spirit so strong, and have guidance in your life. From all my reading I loved reading about Nephi and his incredible faith to guide his family and obey God’s command. Something that really stuck out is God never just gave them anything, he helped and guide them to get over road blocks and then Nephi always saw the trials as blessings and his testimony grew stronger and stronger in our Heavenly Father, which led me to write this poem.

I promise and I know that this challenge will change your life for the better. If you haven’t started I strongly encourage you to, and please feel free to email me! I can read them everyday. I want to have a connection with all of you through this journey and I know through this challenge we can be. I am praying and thinking about all of you daily. I know that as I am doing the Lords work, that you all will be blessed. Please let me know how the challenge is going for you and what sticks out. I’m so excited to hear the blessings and thoughts you will receive as you do so.

Today I will be cleaning the temple till about Noon. So I will be sending all my other emails after that :) please feel free to send me an email before then to remind me to email you back. I’d love to talk to all of you at least a little bit.

I love you all,
Elder Carter
